The Church School of St. Lazarus strives to teach our children the Orthodox Faith: understanding of our history, basic beliefs, active participation in liturgy, and Christian living.

Our staff of volunteer teachers, aides, and support people along with our Clergy, Superintendents and Education Committee serves our young people, three year olds through high school seniors. Using the curriculum of the Department of Religious Education of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the church school staff strives to improve their knowlwdge and skills through workshops, retreats and conferences.

The success of the Church School depends on us all, and through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, we have been blessed with the loyal support of our priests, our parents, and the congregation at large.

Classes from grades Pre-K through Young Adult meet every Sunday during the school year. Instructors prepare lessons to share the gift of Orthodoxy and help our young people grow in their faith. Serbian Language, Religion and History will be taught during the morning hours 10am-11am.  Family lunch will be provided after church. Folklore dance taught by Bojana Dimitrijevic will commence after lunch from `12noon to 2pm.

Sponsored events include the Welcome Back BBQ Luncheon, Christmas Program, Sv. Sava Day Celebration and Program, Kumovi Day/Godparent-Godchild Sunday, Michigan Adventure Trip, End of the Year Celebration, Winter Retreat and Church Camp. Our dance group this year also has accepted invitations to perform in Ohio, Ilinois and as guest performances for the Detroit Pistons.

Also our boys participate as Altar Boys and both girls and boys take turns reading
the weekly Epistles.

Parents: If you have children who were baptized in our “Ravanica” Church in the past 3-5 years and they are not registered in Church School – We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you and would love to have you enroll your children in our program. As your children begin regular school – it is also so important that they also begin their spiritual and cultural education.
